People who try to deceive others through e-mail and instant messaging use too many words, scientists at Columbia University have found. Fibbers also use more pronouns about others, perhaps trying to deflect attention away from themselves. Meanwhile, people being lied to ask more questions--perhaps because they sense something is wrong, the researchers wrote in a cognitive journal.
